An Effective Barrier For Mosquitoes & No-See-Ums

Mosquito biting

The Bad News:

World-wide there are over 3,000 different species of mosquitoes throughout the world; currently 176 species are recognized in the United States.

Mosquitoes, and their smaller and some might add more annoying little brother the 'no-see-um', use exhaled carbon dioxide, body odors and temperature and movement to home in on their victims.

Only female mosquitoes have the mouth parts necessary for sucking blood.  When biting with their proboscis, they stab two tubes into the skin: one to inject an enzyme that inhibits blood clotting; the other to suck blood into their bodies.

They use the blood not for their own nourishment but as a source of protein for their eggs.  For food, both males and females eat nectar and other plant sugars.

The Good News:

Our super-scented bars, come packed with the best proven repellents, containing Catnip, Yarrow, Soybean Oil, Castor Oil and essential oils of Lemongrass, Geranium, Neem, Peppermint, Litsea, Naiouli, Lavender and Cedarwood.  They are simple to use and super-effective against mosquitoes, no-see-ums and other annoying flying bugs.

Check out our new Tropical Strength Repellent right here.

The bars are so simple to use, just rub the bars gently to all areas of exposed skin.  They are super-effective repellents up to six hours, but reapply as necessary and as your local conditions require and, as with all other repellents, don't miss any areas because the bugs will find them!

Hello Netty, thanks for your query. Depending on usage, our home size natural repellent bars usually last for up to 60 applications, which is equivalent to five standard plastic bottles of another type of bug repellent. Also as it is a topical repellent, one that you apply directly by rubbing onto your skin, there is no wastage into the air as with spray on counterparts. For full facts please see our FAQ page here: https://thesolidbarcompany.com/collections/bug-bars/products/tropical-repellent-1 Thank you.
