Moisturizing Tips From The Solid Bar Company

Hi Rebecca here...and I'm Going To Talk To You About The Beneficial Health Insights For Luxurious Cocoa Butter.

Rebecca Bennett, CEO of The Solid Bar Company

Following on from two previous blogs on the Power of Lemons and the Power of Oranges, here I will concentrate on Cocoa Butter.

Cocoa butter is a wonderfully rich and moisturising ingredient for use in most skincare products.

In this blog I am going to show various surprising uses for cocoa butter both inside and outside of your body.

We use it in many of our skin care products, so I'll explain a little about that before finishing off with a free delicious brownie recipe!

Firstly, for the scientifically inclined, it contains a high proportion of oleic, stearic and palmitic acids, as well as antioxidants, vitamins, proteins, minerals and micronutrients, including selenium.

These characteristics ensure that cocoa butter is easily absorbed and penetrates deep into the skin helping to re-hydrate and protect, as well as even out skin tone and improve skin texture.

You will find this fantastic organic butter as a base ingredient in our Bug Repellent Bars (that nourish your skin whilst repelling bugs, isn’t that great!), along with other organic base ingredients such as Shea butter and food-grade rice bran wax (also with natural, low SPF properties-more on that later).

This is totally unlike so many other bug repellent sprays on the market that consist of water and cheap alcohol which will, not only blow away in the wind or evaporate during application but also, inevitably dehydrate and dry out your skin.

As you can imagine, this is the last thing you want to be applying to yourself regularly outside when you’re also open to all the elements.

Cocoa butter helps protect your skin from the environment, penetrating deep into the skin, preventing skin degradation due to the harmful effects of the sun, instead leaving it soft and supple.

You will also find Cocoa butter in our 'Botanical and Herbal Hair Conditioners', that also contain a whole host of deluxe moisturising, detangling and hair softening properties.

What’s more, Cocoa butter in chocolate is said to raise endorphin and serotonin levels in the brain to instantly improve your mood.

Was there ever a better excuse for trying out a delicious Chocolate Brownie Recipe, with rich, dark chocolate of course - straight out of an American magazine (Americans definitely know how to make good brownies with half a pound of butter and five eggs - how could it not be good - and this one can easily be made Gluten free by substituting the plain flour for Gluten free flour)!
